Young Dolph: Rapper shot dead in Memphis bakery

American rapper Young Dolph was killed in a shooting in Memphis, officials confirmed. The 36-year-old musician was shot dead in a bakery in his hometown of Memphis on Wednesday.
Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolf Robert Thornton Jr., released his debut album in 2016 and garnered millions of views on YouTube videos. Other artists, including Megan Thee Stallion and Chance The Rapper, paid tribute to the star. News of the young Dolph's death was confirmed by the Mayor of Memphis, Jim Strickland.
"The tragic shooting of rapper Young Dolph is another reminder of the pain inflicted by violent crime," he said. Local media reported that the artist was shot dead and killed just before 13:00 local time (19:00 GMT) on Wednesday while visiting a Makeda-made pastry shop near the airport.
Her cousin told The Daily Memphian that the star was visiting her sick aunt and willing to hand out turkey for Thanksgiving, which she does every year.
A spokesperson for APA, which lists the rapper as a subscriber, said in a statement that the company was "shocked also deeply saddened" by the star's death. "The world has lost an icon, a best man and a beloved artist took too soon," the statement said.
Young Dolph has been the target of shooting in the past. In February 2017, the rapper said his car was shot several times in Charlotte. In September of that year, he was injured in a shooting in Los Angeles. Several celebrities in the United States paid tribute to the young Dolph, including Rick Ross.
Megan Tee Stallion described Young Dolph as a friend and a "true legend." The couple declare a song together in 2020.
