Spain's ruling Socialist Party on Thursday said  it would study tougher legislation on surrogacy following revelations that a 68-year-old popular Spanish TV star used a surrogate mother in Miami to give birth. 
 
 Actress and presenter Ana Obregón caught the attention of the Spanish media and the country's political parties on Wednesday when the social magazine ¡Hola! posted a picture of herself holding her  baby on the front page, announcing that she was the mother of a baby girl born through surrogacy. 
 
 Surrogacy is banned in Spain, although children born from such surrogacy may be registered. 
 
 The news immediately drew criticism from the leftist coalition government led by the Socialist Party.Equality Minister Irene Montero of left-wing coalition partner United We Can  said surrogacy was "a form of violence against women", while Socialist Finance Minister María Jesús Montero, described it. this behavior is "the exploitation of the female body". 
 
 The topic of surrogacy hasn't been an issue in Spain for a while, but it can be proven that this is an election year. Signaling that this might be the case, the main conservative opposition party, the People's Party, surprised many by announcing that it was willing to argue about legalizing such pregnancies otherwise. any payment mentioned. 
 
 Socialist Party parliamentary spokesman Patxi López said the law needed to be changed to avoid such cases. 
 
 "We have to reverse what we have now to stop anyone going or wanting to go abroad from trying to hire a woman to give birth and this doesn't allow them to be able, when they come to Spain, save their child in a completely normal way as if nothing had happened,” said López.
 
 Its involvement with Obregón seems to be as controversial as the issue of surrogacy itself. 
 
 Obregón, a biologist and formerly known for her new bikini set in early summer every year, posted a message on her Instagram feed on Wednesday that said, “A light  of love. shined into my darkness. I will never be alone again.
