Taylor Swift is that eighth consecutive number one album consecutively, with their freshly registered performance of Red topping the UK charts on Friday. Red (Taylor's Version) is a remake by the American singer of her fourth album, becoming number one in its 2012 original release.

This is their second re-recorded album for 2021 after Fearless. He plans to re-record and re-release his first six albums to have complete control over his music. The move follows his major record takeover in 2019 by music mogul Scooter Brown and his subsequent sale to mutual funds.

He hopes fans will hear and buy the new version of the album on streaming services and download stores, not the original. Red included the hit singles We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, and I Knew You Were Trouble, with Taylor's version adding several bonus tracks, not on the original album.

The 31-year-old singer has linked Kylie Minogue to eight UK number one albums. At 12, Madonna is the only solo artist to have more. Red (Taylor's version) ended the week ahead of the current two charts - the long-awaited return of Abba Voyage in second place and Ed Sheeran's Equals in third place. Little Mix ended the week in fourth place with their new collection of the biggest hits Between Us.

Swift's chart single All Too Well (10 minutes version) set a new record at number three, making it the longest song ever to reach the top 5. He overtook Sheeran's Shivers in second place, with Adele's divorce song Easy on Me being first in its fifth week.

Adele is likely to see Swift drop off the top of the charts next week with her fourth album, 30, out Friday. Review: 30-year-old Adele feels emotionally confused. James Blunt also released his new album on Friday, vowing "never to write, record, or sing a song while I was alive" if he were to overtake Adele at all.
