Sir Anthony Cher: Actor dies of cancer at 72

Veteran actor Sir Anthony Cher died of cancer at the age of 72, the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) said. She is big regarded as one of the best contemporary classical actors in the country, with a long history with the company.
Her artistic director and Sir Anthony's husband, Gregory Doran, have obtained loving permission to care for her. RSC President Sriti Wadera said the actor was "loved" by the organization and "touched and enriched the lives of so many people."
"Our thoughts also condolences are with the family and friends of Greg and Anthony at this devastating time," added Catherine Malion, RSC CEO, and Erica Wyman, Acting Artistic Director.
Sir Anthony's film appearances include Shakespeare in Love and Mrs. Brown, while his RSC awards include Richard III and Macbeth. Once release by the Prince of Wales as his favorite actor, Sir Anthony played many of Shakespeare's significant roles, from King Lear to Shylock.
But that is his portrayal of Richard III. as a criminal on crutches which earned him the Olivier Award in 1985. Prince, president of the Royal Shakespeare Company, said he was "deeply saddened" by the death of Sir Anthony, who he described as "a great man and an irreplaceable talent."
"I have had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her over the years, and I have great admiration for her for the incredible skill and passion she brings to each role," Prince Charles said. "My fondest memory of him is the role of Falstaff in this brilliant production by Greg Doran.
"I feel so good to have known him, but we all lost a giant on stage amid his genius. Actor John Sim paid his respects on Instagram and shared a memorable photo of Sir Anthony as Richard III. Sim described Sir Anthony as "a great inspiration, talent."
