Both previously pleaded guilty to money laundering and drugs. Judge Rosa Dean sentenced them both at Harrow Crown Court: "What a waste of all that talent to sit on vermouth." Last year the Nines topped the UK album charts with their record Crabs In A Bucket and was named best hip-hop artist at the Mobo Awards.
The court found that the couple had participated in a successful attempt to import Class B drugs while other efforts were underway. Prosecutor Genevieve Reed said the money laundering charges relate to £98,000 debt, drug value, and the use of Bitcoin to buy marijuana.
Some of the cannabis imported into water heaters was brought to Britain from Poland, the court found.
Nine from Barbican in central London and Thompson from Barnett in north London were arrested following police raids in London and Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The network, used by thousands of criminals worldwide, was hacked by authorities last year after French investigators hacked it. The father-of-nine, nicknamed the "big boss" by his henchmen, had previously been sentenced to 18 months in prison from possessing marijuana with intent to extradite.
