Elon Musk sparked debate on Twitter, the social media platform he is willing to buy into one of the world's biggest tech deals.
Who do you trustless? Politician or billionaire. It's a topic that can spark lively conversation, especially amid a pandemic when world leaders and tycoons are accused of not doing enough. Interestingly, this question was asked by Elon Musk, the world's richest person, in a Twitter poll on Friday.
Last year the UN told him that 2 percent of their net worth - $6 billion - could solve the world's hunger problem. Fortune.com's February report said he "mysteriously" gave $5.7 billion to charity.
The poll had a 24-hour deadline and received 1,329,796 votes in the first three hours. The 50-year-old Tesla owner has more than 95 million followers on the microblogging site. Hours earlier, he had posted: "Politics creates sadness."
His question comes amid another debate he has sparked on social media. He claims that the world is facing a significant threat population collapse.
Population collapse is the greatest threat to civilization, he wrote in a video. This issue is expected to divide netizens when people in many countries are blamed for the climate crisis and poverty.
On Friday, meanwhile, he said he loves learning "from even the harshest of critics." "You know, it's great to talk to people from all walks of life and many countries on Twitter!" There is so much to learn, even from the harshest of critics. I'm just saying that I love you, all crazy people. (sic). "
