Novak Djokovic: Wimbledon champion can defend the title because organizers allow unvaccinated play

Novak Djokovic could defend his Wimbledon title after organizers told players who had not been vaccinated against Covid-19 would be allowed to participate.
Serbia's world number one, 34, was disqualified from competing at the Australian Open in January after successive years due to a lack of vaccinations.
"Government requirements for entry into the UK do not include mandatory vaccinations," Sally Bolton, CEO of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, said at a news conference.
"So even though it's encouraged, it's not a condition of entry."
After the infamous Australian Open story, which ended in his deportation due to his Covid status, Djokovic missed other tournaments, including Indian Wells and Miami, due to coronavirus rules while entering the United States.
During that period, he also lost world number one to Russia's Daniil Medvedev but has since regained it and is back in the tournament, with many countries relaxing their vaccination requirements.
Last weekend, Djokovic reached his first final of the year, losing to Russia's Andrei Rublev at the Serbia Open in Belgrade.
Djokovic, has won 20 Grand Slam titles, told NEWS in February that he would rather lose tennis trophies in the future than be forced to be vaccinated against Covid.
