Strictly Come Dancing judge Motzi Mabuse will miss Saturday's show after coming into close contact with a man who tested positive for Covid-19. Mabuse stated that she had been fully vaccinated in an Instagram post, which usually means release from isolation.

However, Mabus is currently in Germany and unable to travel back because UK government guidelines do not recognize the vaccine received. Singer and actress Cynthia Erivo will replace her on the panel.

This will be Erivo's second week as a judge after replacing Craig Revel Horwood last weekend. Horwood tested positive for Covid-19 but will return to the panel later this week, a Strictly spokesperson confirmed.

Erivo, Mabuse, Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Becket sued last week's event
"Motzi Mabuse will not be participating in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend," a spokesperson for the event said Friday.

"We are delighted that Cynthia Erivo will join us again as a guest judge and sit on the jury alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Becke, and Chief Justice Shirley Ballas. We look forward to Motzi returning next weekend.

Other stars who missed this year's Strictly due to Covid include celebrity contestants Tom Fletcher and Judy Love. Mabuse wrote on Instagram that she was "disappointed" at having to miss Strictly.

"Double vaccinations and booster vaccinations like mine usually mean release from isolation according to close contact rules, but unfortunately German vaccines are not recognized by the EU, as in this case my booster vaccination, so I have to follow the applicable UK government guidelines and mine.

The government website states that the EU digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC) is not recognized as proof of vaccination for travelers traveling to the UK from Germany.

While the UK recognizes certificates for travelers from several European countries, the guidelines state: "You cannot currently check your vaccination status with your EUDCC using the UK Passenger Search Form."

It added that people whose EUDCC was issued in Germany could use it to indicate vaccination status in the UK, but this does not apply to travel.
