After Twitter owner Elon Musk launched the "blue" subscription a few months ago, Meta Platforms also came up with a similar announcement. Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg announced on Sunday, February 19 that the platform is ready to launch a subscription service that will allow users to verify account credentials. This will be a paid service and users will have to pay at least $11.99 per month on web or $14.99 per month on iOS.
According to the announcement, the service will allow users to verify their accounts with a government-issued ID, and upon completion of the verification process, accounts will receive a blue badge, giving users an additional layer of protection against phishing against fake accounts.

Notably, not all users will be able to enjoy the new feature as the service will first be launched in Australia and New Zealand this week, while other countries will soon receive the same feature, according to the announcement.
