Matt Doran: Australian TV presenter, sorry for the error that caused the Adele interview

An Australian television presenter said he was "tired" of the error that led his network to interview singer Adele. Matt Doran of Channel 7 flew from Sydney to London on November 4 to meet Adele for the only Australian interview for her new album 30.

But after Sony admitted during that time that he had not heard the album, Sony kept a recording of the interview. Doran apologized and said he missed the email with a preview copy of the song. "It was negligence, but not intentional neglect," he told Australian newspapers.

He denied reports that he was kicked out of Channel 7 after being absent from broadcast duties. Australian media reported that Doran's trip to London with two colleagues was part of a rights package that cost the Australian network $1 million (£500,000; $700,000). It was supposed to be a high-profile interview for Doran, who moderated the show called Weekend Sunrise.

Many of the reactions made fun of Doran's mistake and apology, but others saw a more severe side. "On the one hand, many passionate writers and art critics work for free or for ridiculous prices like $40 per review. But, on the other hand, this…" wrote screenwriter Brioni Kidd on Twitter.

Meanwhile, an ABC political reporter of the same name received some criticism. He summed up his experience in a tweet and said: "It's easier with me..."Adeles 30 - her first album in six years - was released to the public on Friday.
