Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says champions are 'legends.'

After securing their fourth Premier League title in five seasons, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said his team was "legends".

City won the league one point clear of rivals Liverpool with an impressive 3-2 win over Aston Villa on the final day at the Etihad Stadium.

"We are legends. They will remember us. This group of players are truly eternal at this club," said Guardiola.

"What we have achieved is very difficult to achieve. Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United did it many years ago - two or three times - now I realize how big it is. Now we are a part of it."

City lost 2-0 to Villa in 15 minutes before substitute Ilkay Gundogan scored twice on either side of midfielder Rodri's net in a sensational five-minute comeback.

If they don't win, Liverpool will be champions.

"The last game is always something special - a lot of emotion," said Guardiola. "Aston Villa gave everything, but the first goal changed everything. So we have to do it.

"If you win the Premier League four times in five seasons in this country, these people are so special.

"A home win for our guys is the best. When we got the equalizer, we felt we had a chance to get the third goal.

"It was the best atmosphere I've had since I've been here. I hope we can celebrate together on the streets of Manchester tomorrow with our cigars and beers. I'll bring mine, don't worry."

Liverpool beat Wolves 3-1 at home but could not stop Manchester City from retaining their title.

The top two teams have only lost five games against each other throughout the season.
