Louis Tomlinson and Franz Ferdinand are the latest music stars to appear in Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine. American band Green Day and pop-punk star Yungblud also canceled appointments.
Tomlinson said his shows in Moscow and the Russian-attacked Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, had been postponed "until further notice." "The safety of my people is my priority, and my thoughts are with the Ukrainian people and all those who are suffering from this unnecessary war," he wrote online.
In July, the singer is scheduled to perform at Stereo Plaza in Kyiv and Crocus City Hall in Moscow. Other artists confirmed to quit include American noise rock band Health and Russian rapper Oxxxymiron.
In announcing the cancellation of his summer concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Franz Ferdinand stressed his love of Russian culture but condemned the state's attacks on its neighbors.
"We love Russia," they wrote. "This great country inspires our band through art and literature, and since we first performed there seventeen years ago, we have developed a rich and deep bond with our Russian fans.
"Since Thursday morning, we have spoken via social media with many of our friends in Russia and have faced unanimous opposition to this violence and solidarity with our Ukrainian friends," they added.

"We know you see the madness of your country's leadership. We know you don't want war. We don't want war." The Glasgow Act says they look forward to the day when they can return "in peacetime."
On Monday, the Siberian Russian State Ballet canceled the remaining dates for the UK tour "due to the current shocking circumstances in Ukraine." As a result, Bristol, Wolverhampton, Northampton, Edinburgh, Bournemouth, Southend, and Peterborough have canceled visits to ballet companies.
