Buckingham Palace in Britain caught fire with lavish decoration and royal guests as King Charles hosted his first Commonwealth party. This time the event took place at the Palace instead of the usual Marlborough House, the Daily Mail reports.
The monarchy was joined by Queen Camilla's consort Prince William, the newly appointed Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. In his inaugural Commonwealth Day speech, King Charles stressed the need to "listen" and "search for solutions"; a possible kick into the drama with Prince Harry showing no signs of reconciliation.
The theme of this year's conference was shaping a shared sustainable and peaceful future, which is why the monarch highlighted how the Commonwealth of Nations can transform the world. "Whether it is climate change and biodiversity loss, youth opportunity and education, global health or economic cooperation, the Commonwealth can play an irreplaceable role in addressing the most pressing issues of our time," he said.
