International Tea Day is celebrated every 21 May. The day was adopted on 21 December 2019 and called on the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to lead the celebrations.
We look at five different types of tea and their various health benefits: Kombucha.
A carbonated fermented drink, kombucha is a tea made with yeast and flavored with fruit or juice. Detoxifies the body and increases energy and the immune system. It is a probiotic drink that is good for digestion as it encourages the growth of good bacteria in the gut. Studies show that it is helpful in lowering cholesterol and blood sugar.
Ginger tea
Ki Chai adarak is popular in India and this root spice is used as a home remedy for ailments such like colds, coughs, and motion sickness. In addition, it is suitable for relieving heartburn and keeping cholesterol and blood pressure under control. Tea is prepared by grinding it into tea or boiling it in water.
Matcha tea
Matcha belongs to the green tea family, originates in Japan, and is part of the traditional tea ceremony. However, it has gained popularity as a purer source of caffeine than coffee. Unlike green tea, which is made from steeped leaves, matcha tea is made from powdered leaves. B vitamins promote new skin growth, and vitamin C stimulates collagen production. It gives your skin a healthy, also youthful glow and several studies show it can prevent damage to the liver and kidneys.
