EastEnders: Drag Queen Tara Misu turned out to be an ordinary heroine

The first drag queen in EastEnders history had to appear as a regular heroine in Albert Square.
Fans caught a glimpse of Tara Misu, played by Matthew Morrison.
Matthew said it was a privilege to "show engaging creative art" to viewers and Walford residents and "represent the LGBTQIA+ community."
"It's important for people to reflect themselves on the screen," he added.
He joins the cast as Felix Baker, the youngest son of Mitch Baker's estranged brother, Avery.
"Normalizing the Queer Community"
Lucas Young, a transvestite named Ms. Classpergers, who uses the pronoun she/they, said it was necessary for an event as big as Eastenders to "think through this matter without apologies."
This could have significant implications, Lucas said, because adults haven't seen much representation on TV.
"If I had that awareness or opportunity at a younger age, I think I would have started creating more. And knowledge is power.
But "EastEnders, being an entertaining show, can make a difference," they said.
Lucas is "excited to see what kind of conversation" the event will generate and if "people who don't necessarily understand the community" will be more open afterward. In a video posted to the event's social media, Matthew said he had never dragged before.
Luca's "spontaneous reaction" to this was that it would have been better to have a character who was already a seasoned drag queen.
"But if you make it without a loved one, I don't see anything wrong with that," Lucas added.
"Drag is an expression of the inside of us that we usually can't show. Let's make more transvestites, and as long as they do a good job, I don't see a problem with that."
