Depp-Hurd Trial: The jury largely sided with Depp in the defamation trial

The jury awarded Mr. Depp, who denies abusing Hurd, $15 million (£12 million) and damages.
Ms. Hurd, 36, won one of three counterclaims against Mr. Depp, 58, and was awarded $2 million in damages.
The Hollywood stars, who divorced in 2017, presented contradictory versions of their doomed relationship.
Over six weeks, a court in Fairfax, Virginia, heard lewd details about Mr. Depp and Mrs. Hurd and the unfortunate ending.
Studies show that many Americans are more interested in legal drama than the war in Ukraine or the historic abortion decision that the US Supreme Court potentially awaits daily.
But they also discovered that Depp had defamed Ms. Hurd when her lawyers made statements to the Daily Mail in 2020, citing allegations of harassment and fraud.
As the seven jurors announced their verdict, shouts, and chants of "Johnny, Johnny, Johnny" erupted outside the court.
Depp did not appear in court because of "pre-scheduled work commitments," his spokesman said. However, the actor is reportedly watching from the UK, where he has performed three surprise concerts with his friend, British musician Jeff Beck since the jury debates began on Friday.
Ahead of the verdict, Mr. Depp received a standing ovation after appearing with Mr. Beck at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
On Wednesday, he said: "The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled."
He added in Latin, "Truth never fades."
