Chinese soldiers'
response to knife-warfare: ITBP jawans learning martial arts, dragon attack
with similar weapons in Galwan
ITBP personnel
deployed along the China border are now being trained in unarmed combat. The 44-week long training campaign will teach the soldiers 15 steps, enabling the trainees to deal with conditions such as storms,
avalanches and lack of oxygen.
No stay at the border
for more than 90 days
According to the
report, soldiers will be taught Judo, Karate, Krav Maga and Japanese martial
arts during the training. Its purpose is to counter Chinese soldiers armed with
knives or sticks. While after the training, the jawan is planned to be posted
at the border post for only 90 days.
The ITBP devised a
non-armored combat strategy
In 2021, the then Director General of ITBP, Sanjay Arora, directed the
creation of a non-armed combat strategy after violent clashes in the Galwan
Valley. In fact, under the agreement, weapons cannot be used on China's border.
That is why the soldiers there are keeping watch with sticks and batons.

in Galwan Valley, 38 Chinese soldiers
were killed
In April-May 2020, Chinese troops gathered in the border area of Eastern Ladakh on the
pretext of an exercise. After that there were incidents of infiltration at many
places. The Indian government also deployed as many troops as China in the
area. The situation got so bad that after more than 4 decades the LAC was fired. Meanwhile, on June 15, 20 soldiers of the
Indian Army were martyred in a clash with the Chinese Army in the Galwan
Valley.
The American
newspaper 'The Klaxon' has revealed this clash in one of its investigative
reports. According to this report, 38 Chinese soldiers were
killed in a violent encounter between the soldiers of both countries in eastern
Ladakh. China only admitted that four of its soldiers were killed in Galwan.
