China's techno
nationalism: Now the whole country will make semiconductors, preparations for
the Olympics were also done in this way
Tensions are rising
around the world. Technology and weapons are at stake. This month, the US
stopped supplying advanced semiconductors to China. Due to which China and
America have come face to face again. The Chinese Communist Party has called it
a national emergency. Since then, China has adopted a formula of
techno-nationalism to become self-sufficient in the field of semiconductors.
Every small and big
unit in the country is engaged only in manufacturing of semiconductors. China
aims to become self-sufficient in semiconductors by 2025. China's slogan of techno-nationalism seems all the more effective
because it has previously invoked the same nationalism to bring gold medals to
the Olympics, and its results can be seen in the Olympic Games. this day
Indeed, China has told the world, including America, with this slogan that economy is its top agenda. This is a kind of technology war.
Although China had earlier launched
the Made in China 2025 project in 2015 which aimed to compete with the US in advanced technologies such as
automation, driverless cars and microchips, it did not have much success in the
field of microchips. Hence it has now been started on a war footing. Former US
President Donald Trump also banned the Chinese semiconductor company.
No gadget works
without semiconductors
All modern devices
like computers, mobiles, TVs, fridges etc. work on semiconductor basis. Not
only that, electric vehicles too. As technology evolves, so does the demand.
This is reducing the world's dependence on oil and gas. It is the strength of
this semiconductor manufacturing that many countries of the world, including
America, stood up against the threat of China's attack on Taiwan. Disruption of
semiconductor supply from Taiwan could put the economies of many countries in
trouble.
