Celebrity MasterChef: Channel 5 News Sorry to Announce Winners.
Written byTimes Magazine
Channel 5 News apologized for incorrectly announcing the Celebrity MasterChef winner before the program. On Tuesday, comedian Judy Love has crowned the first Christmas champion of 2021 on One's cooking show.
The Loose Women panel won against Oti Mabuse, Joey Essex, Neil Ruddock, and Su Pollard. However, a few minutes before the show went live, Channel 5 accidentally announced the winner.
"We apologize for mistakenly announcing the winner of Celebrity MasterChef BBC1 before it was announced tonight," Channel 5 News tweeted on its official account that evening.
News releases often issue temporary copies of programs or embargoes to the press, along with information to help them prepare material for their newsletters. The tweet received mixed reactions from viewers, with one person saying, "Great job, I didn't see it before I saw it. You're going to be in big trouble.
Others responded hilariously with photos and gifs of Prue Leith spoiling the 2017 Bake Off winner on Twitter, the first year the show aired on Channel 4.
Love won the competition and impressed the judges with a Caribbean-themed Christmas dinner consisting of grated turkey breast stuffed with jack spice and served with parsnip puree, carrots, stuffing, baked potato, crispy turkey skin and cranberry jam, and scotch chili.
Judge Greg Wallace described it as "nothing but fantastic." The new Strictly contestants also served black Jamaican cookies with sorrel sauce, potent ice cream, and rum punch.
Another round of Celebrity MasterChef Christmas Cook-Off will air on December 23 on BBC One with a new batch of celebrities. Meanwhile, ITV confirmed Wednesday that one of Love's rivals in the MasterChef kitchen, Oti Mabus will replace John Barrowman like the new judge on Dancing On Ice.
