Britney Spears' ex, Jason Alexander, was accused of harassing her at a wedding

A man who married singer Britney Spears within 55 hours has been charged with sexual harassment after she appeared unannounced during her marriage to Sam Asgari.

Jason Alexander, 40, argued not guilty to the charges, as well as illegal entry, manslaughter, and vandalism.

He was arrested last week after allegedly breaking down a gate and playing a video from Spears' home.

Mr. Alexander was briefly marry to the pop star, a childhood friend, in 2004.

But the union was canceled in less than three days.

Spears, 40, and longtime partner Asgary, 28, wed in an intimate ceremony in California last week.

But preparations stalled when Alexander was arrested after allegedly breaking down a door. Before being stopped by security personnel, he broadcast a video from the singer's home.

Shortly before that, she posted the story on Instagram, saying she was there to "cancel" the wedding.

The video shows him walking through Spears' house in search of her and then entering the tent where the finishing touches for a large rose exhibition are taking place. He claims Spears invited him and said, "She's my first wife, my only wife."

"He managed to find his way to the property and was intercepted by security forces," a police spokesman said.

"There was an altercation with the security guard, and that's where the battery happened ... and during that altercation, an item broke, so vandalism came into play. And if you're private property, the breach also has an impact."

On Monday, a judge set bail at $100,000 (£82,290) also ordered Mr. Alexander to stay at least 100 yards (91 meters) from Spears for three years.

He attended the trial virtually.
