Britney Spears and her sister Jamie Lynn got into a public spat over a recent TV interview and the couple's previous relationship. The singer accused her younger sister of using Wednesday's interview to promote her new book "at my expense."
Britney said Jamie Lynn "never had to work for anything" and that the family "liked to drag me down and hurt me." Jamie Lynn said Britney's statements were "completely untrue," and she was "always here" for her sister.
The 30-year-old also said she needed to explain to her children "why our family continues to receive death threats because of her aunt's ambiguous and accusing position, especially when we know she can tell the truth."
Britney had repeatedly criticized her family for treating them as conservative during the 13 years when Jamie's father controlled her finances and lifestyle. As a result, the court terminated the agreement in November.
Earlier this week, Britney's sister interviewed ABC's Good Morning America to promote her memoir Things I Should Have Said.
The book reportedly details her own life story, including a near-fatal incident with her young daughter in 2017, her relationship with Britney, and her role in the singer's controversial conservation work.
During the interview, Jamie Lynn described herself as "my sister's biggest supporter" and said she was taking "steps to help" end conservatism. But according to the ABC, she also described Britney's behavior earlier in the book as "unstable," "paranoid," and "spiral."
He told the program: "When [quaestorship] was introduced, I was 17, I wanted to have a baby, so I didn't understand what was going on, nor did I focus on him.
Jamie Lynn later speculated that her sister had contacted her to ask if she would "be the one to make sure the boys got what they needed," to which she agreed. So I have nothing. Funds or something similar is observed, and if so, then it is a misunderstanding, but I have not taken any steps to be a part of it.
