Brit Awards 2022: Ballad of hits when Adele wins big

Adele won three of the top four Brit Awards on Tuesday, where she also performed confidently on her song I Drink Wine. The singer won Best Artist, Best Album, and Song of the Year for Easy on Me.

Ed Sheeran was also named Songwriter of the Year at London's O2 Arena, performing his hit Bad Habits with rockers Bring Me the Horizon. Dua Lipa won her second major award of the night when TikTok users voted her over Adele for Best Pop/R&B Artist.

At least for now, Robbie Williams is still ahead of Adele as the artist with the most awards in British history at the age of 13 years. After winning the first of her three Best Song awards, Adele beamed, "I can't believe piano ballads beat so many people."

The so-called 'divorce album,' 30, is the best-selling album of 2021, racking up over 600,000 copies in just six weeks, and the star dedicates her tribute to her son and ex-husband. Winner of the UK's first Sexless Award for Complete Artist of the Year added: "I understand why the name of this award has, but I love being a woman and an artist. I am so proud of us."

The Brit Awards announce the first gender-neutral nominations
The move has been criticized by figures including Pierce Morgan and Culture Minister Nadine Doris, who said they were concerned about how the new system "would work in terms of gender equality."

Adele's hat-trick came just weeks after she tearfully postponed her entire Las Vegas stay. However, she didn't mention the flop during the ceremony... and the tabloids seemed more interested in whether she wore a new diamond ring on her engagement finger.

The comedian has attacked Prime Minister Boris Johnson over the well-documented row over the party. "Boris, I know you're watching," he says into the camera. "I know you like parties. "Come on, kid, come on down guys - I know you like cheesecake. Look at you; you're looking for Dairylea."
