The South Korean group also won Best Pop Group and Best Pop Song for the third year for their dance song, Butter, topped the charts. "Everything is a miracle," the singer told RM. The star also thanked fans for their support, saying, "I'm so happy to be in your life and to have you in mine." BTS made two appearances, including Coldplay for a pyrotechnically assisted version of My Universe, before ending the show with a breathless performance by Butter, dressed in a suitably oil-colored costume.
But rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who had to join them, withdrew at the last minute due to "unexpected personal questions." The Houston native still won three awards that night, including favorite hip-hop artist and favorite body favorite.
Stranger Things actress Madeleine Klein, who presented the award, said she would hand it over directly from the Fed. Olivia Rodrigo chose the best new Artist, which puts her on track to win the same Grammy Award next January (nominations to be announced Tuesday).
"This is very cool!" said the teenage girl who had already sung about the stage in a heartbreaking ballad of a traitor.
Rapper Cardi B, who hosted the show, won Best Hip-Hop Song for Up, while Doja Cat was another big winner, winning three trophies including best collaboration for Kiss Me More, their elegant pop duet with SZA. Carrie Underwood won her favorite country singer for the eighth time. Only Reba McIntyre has more wins in this category with 11.
Ed Sheeran was the night's sole British winner and took home the best male pop singer. Jennifer Lopez played On My Way in a bold wedding dress from her upcoming romance, Marry Me. However, his friend Ben Affleck was nowhere to be seen.
