Alexis Ohanian wears many hats in front of her daughter, Olympia.
Speaking to the Morning Brew's Imposters podcast, which news can exclusively share before the full episode airs Tuesday, the 39-year-old tech entrepreneur opened up about being a "business dad" and what it means to his family. Things have changed. And that's the lens I look at in every decision."
I want to do my best work for as long as possible so that my daughter can see me doing it in a way that I am proud of, that she is proud of doing it in a way that." the best of the best but in line with the values," he continued.
"I want Olympia to see my work, see me build," Ohanian added. "And I think that's also part of my responsibility as a father and role model. So I want him to see me doing something I care about, love, and care about."
Ohanian shared a 4-year-old daughter with his wife Serena Williams and joked that Olympia "just thinks I make pancakes for a living" nowadays.
"What do I do," he continued. "It's my Sunday. It's my COVID skill that I've acquired. I have a particular setup with squeeze bottles and everything." Ohanian also said that the little one was fascinated by Encanto, although he initially thought his family would overcome their obsession with Disney films.
"I think we missed this trend. And then the songs would come in, and now it continues," he explained. Ohanian continues the conversation on the Imposters podcast, also opening up about receiving important advice from Williams, 40, about managing his time as a worker and accepting dad.
"The lesson I learned from my wife, which was the biggest thing I missed, especially in the beginning, was not recognizing my diminishing marginal returns in manufacturing, where it felt great to be the only person working. At 4 a.m. and writing emails and getting work done because I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I got off to a great start for someone else,'" she explained.
