British music sensation Adele brought her acclaimed Las Vegas residency to an emotional close on Saturday night. The milestone marked her 100th and final show at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum, where she performed for two years in front of 4,000 fans each weekend.
Tearing up on stage, the singer reflected on the journey, saying:
"I’m so sad this residency is over, but I am so glad that it happened. I will miss it terribly, I will miss you terribly. I don’t know when I next want to perform again."
The residency, delayed by a COVID outbreak in January 2022, eventually began later that year and quickly became a highlight in Adele’s career. From interacting with fans to defending concertgoers during controversial moments, Adele’s Vegas performances showcased her authenticity and deep connection with her audience.
Meeting Celine Dion
Adele burst into tears when she spotted her idol, Celine Dion, at one of her concerts. The two singers shared a heartfelt hug, symbolizing a meeting of two legends at the venue where Dion had started her own residency in 2003.
Defending a Fan
Adele paused her performance of Water Under the Bridge to intervene when a fan was told to sit down. Her act of solidarity was captured on TikTok, with the fan expressing gratitude for her support.
Addressing Controversial Remarks
In June, Adele confronted an audience member who yelled "Pride sucks" during a show, demonstrating her unwavering stance against discrimination.
The residency, while successful, has left Adele feeling drained. In July, she admitted to German broadcaster ZDF,
"My tank is quite empty at the minute. I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this."
Adele also shared her struggle with fame, noting:
"I miss everything about before I was famous, especially being anonymous. The fame side of it, I absolutely hate."
While fans eagerly anticipate her return to music, Adele plans to step away from the spotlight to focus on personal and creative pursuits. In 2025, she hopes to fulfill a long-held dream of studying English Literature online, sharing,
"If I hadn’t made it singing, I think I would be an English lit teacher. That’s my plan for 2025, just to get the qualification."
From chart-topping albums (19, 21, 25, and 30) to her heartfelt performances, Adele has become a global icon. Her Vegas residency not only solidified her place as a powerhouse performer but also highlighted her down-to-earth nature and unshakable values.
